Crossroads recently purchased property in Pomona to begin a formal Transitional Housing Program. Located on San Francisco Avenue, the craftsman house and duplex will accommodate eight women transitioning from Crossroads or another residential program. Transitional Housing accommodates the formerly incarcerated woman who is working by providing an additional six-months room and board at no cost. She is then able to continue saving 75% of her earnings. Participation in three (3) face-to-face sessions is also a requirement. Crossroads will be able to offer two of these sessions.
Program Director, Jackie White and the women have been busy cleaning and setting up the house. The property is large enough to allow volunteers to help while practicing social distancing and mask wearing. Several donors have already provided furniture and kitchenware. A Wish List at Amazon is available for things we still need. Sheets, towels, pillows, etc. need to be new according to state regulations. We also feel there is power a healing power in going from an institutional setting to a homelike atmosphere – vibrant colors and patterns help make the women feel this is a fresh start!

San Francisco House is currently being renovated to begin a formal transitional housing program in Pomona. The staff and volunteers at Crossroads, Inc. are busy making renovations and repairs for the women who will soon be calling this house “home.”
What do we need?
Housewares: we are always in need of twin sheet sets. We prefer colorful prints!
Clothing: we are always in need of women’s underwear sizes 7 through 12. Again, pretty colors and prints are preferred. Our women have been in institutional clothing for a long time – color and variety are welcome!
Women are also trying to build a wardrobe for work. They often need work shoes and practical pants. Please consider purchasing a gift card at Walmart or Target.
Speaking of gift cards: you can purchase Visa and Amazon gift cards in any amount – these cards will go directly to the women to purchase items that they need.
